WAGGLECHAT | COMING SOON

WaggleChat is the product of a research project at BYU IDeA Labs. The project involves cameras, computer vision technology, and algorithms to study the BeeYU observation hive in order to recognize, track, and interpret honeybee waggle dances. The results are real-time interpretations of waggle dances that provide information on the location of honeybee food sources. Here is an early demo of WaggleChat running on test data:

Honeybees perform waggle dances to communicate the location of food sources to other members of the hive. WaggleChat shows real-time interpretations of waggle dances. The angle of a waggle from the top of the hive corresponds to the direction of a food source; the amount of time (in seconds) spent on the waggle portion of a dance corresponds to the distance of that food source (in kilometers).
